The situation
This seller had a solid product and steady sales, but growth had flattened. A meaningful share of the ad budget was going to search terms that never converted, the titles were written for keyword density rather than for the shopper scanning results, and the campaign structure made it hard to see which keywords actually drove sales.
What we did
- 1
Cut the waste before adding spend
The first pass was subtraction. Search term reports going back several months showed a long tail of terms with clicks and no orders. Those were negated, and the freed budget moved to the exact-match terms that were already converting. ACOS dropped before a single new keyword was added.
- 2
Titles for click-through, not just keywords
The listing titles were rewritten so the most important buying terms appear first, within Amazon's current character limits, and read like something a person would click on in a results page. Click-through rate on the main keywords improved, which lifted both paid and organic performance.
- 3
Keyword targeting and campaign restructure
Campaigns were reorganized so each one had a clear job: rank-driving exact match, harvesting, and defensive brand terms. Weekly reviews promoted new converting terms into exact match and adjusted bids by placement based on conversion data.
The results
Sales increased 96% year over year and units ordered increased 95%, taking revenue from $75K to $147K. Because the growth came from better conversion and cleaner targeting rather than from raw spend, the account was more profitable at the higher volume than it had been before.
Takeaway
Nearly doubling sales did not require doubling the ad budget. Data-driven PPC cleanup plus conversion-focused listing work compounds, and this is the combination I bring to every supplement and wellness account.
